Historical

Mo i Rana was an outpost in the wilderness. But people settled and prospered. Today Mo i Rana is a thriving industrial city with a modern port as the most important hub for transport.

In the early days travel by boat was the only way to get to and from Mo i Rana. When the fjord of Mo i Rana froze the city was isolated for months. Farming and fishing was the means of livelihood while boats itself was the most important export goods.

Early on it was a high interest for the treasures in the mountains of Mo i Rana, and around 1900 the mining started. This was the start of the new Mo i Rana.

The Port has in recent years made big investments and is now on of the most intermodal and modern ports in Norway.
